The Whale Skeleton is a 85%recycled LARGE scale sculpture I made for Burning man in 07. It is made of 5 gal. white plastic buckets, iron pipe ,a huge fiberglass water tank cut into ribs, cardboard tubes and plywood.
The Whale Skeleton sculpture is currently set up and available for public viewing at 255 Branceforty in Santa Cruz,CA.. That is only slightly past the Mystery Spot (tourist attraction), across the very next concrete bridge, right after Sun Villa sign, and look left and up slightly. It is on private property but the owner is cool as long as people are respectful and aware. He and his tenants have been very supportive and patient with the scheduling of the installation .
The Sculpture itself is a little shabby looking right now from Playa wear and tear and the stresses of winter storage and re-setup. It is still impressive though. Touch ups and refinements commence in mid-April.
Any Burners wanting to be involved in the set up of this project on The Playa at BM 08, please inquire with me here on Tribe. It took one person 8 hours with an additional 2 person, 3 hour session to set up last time on this site. The systems have been streamlined and with additional crew , the time could be roughly the same, taking into account fatigue and environmental factors at BRC.
